Year after year our guests return for our fabulous Walleye fishing, which we believe, is second to none. Walleye are the dominant species in Five Mile Lake and are caught using a variety of methods such as jigging with minnows, worms or leeches, trolling or drifting a spinner harness and casting or trolling a variety of Rapalas. Jigs and twister tails should definitely be in your tackle box. Streams running in and out of these lakes create perfect spawning grounds and the structure of the lakes keeps the Walleye concentrated near recognizable landmarks like rocky points, shoals, river currents or along the pencil reeds and thick weed beds. Five Mile Lake is a rather shallow body of water that stretches out for about 7 miles. Many of our Walleye are caught in 7-10 feet of water in spring, early summer and fall. Mid to late summer brings the high sun and water temperatures moving the Walleye to deeper water.
The tea colored lake water keeps our Walleye a beautiful, deep golden color. The meat cooks up nice and white and makes for a wonderful meal with some fried potatoes, beans or whatever your heart desires. Our excellent Walleye population remains healthy and all sizes of fish are caught in our lake. In order to continue to maintain this, we ask that the larger Walleye, which are our spawners be returned to the lake.
Walleye Fishing Regulations:
Limit: 4 Walleyes with a sport license. 2 Walleyes with a conservation license.
Restrictions: No fish can be greater than 18 inches.
Open Season: 3rd Sat. in May until Dec. 31
